A roundtable on modern and integrated plastic waste management was held at the Committee for Environmental Protection. The event took place within the framework of the project “Plastic Waste Management in Specially Protected Natural Areas,” which is part of Tajikistan’s implementation of its international obligations under the Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm Conventions. Government agencies, civil society representatives, and international partners participated in the event.
During the roundtable, the following topics were discussed: “Leadership and Women’s Participation in Plastic Waste Management”, “Health Risks from Chemical Substances in Plastics, with a Focus on Impacts on Women and Children”, “Daily Use of Plastic Materials and Differences in Consumption Patterns", “Best Practices in Collection, Recycling, and Material Substitution to Reduce Plastic Waste Hazards.”
The roundtable represents an important step toward developing a roadmap for Tajikistan that will provide comprehensive, sustainable, and socially responsive strategies for waste management.
