In accordance with the Plan for organizing and holding press conferences in ministries and agencies, enterprises, institutions and organizations, as well as executive authorities of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, regions, the city of Dushanbe, cities and districts, and for the purpose of summarizing the results of 2025, a press conference dedicated to the results of the Committee’s activities for 2025 was held on January 29, 2026, in the central building of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, with the participation of a wide range of mass media representatives.
Journalists from television and radio channels, state and independent print media, took part in the press conference.
At the beginning of the event, the Chairman of the Committee briefly informed participants about the key areas of sectoral activities, including the progress in implementing action plans, state and sectoral programs in the field of environmental protection, the implementation of state environmental control, efforts to raise public environmental awareness, as well as other relevant activities.
During the question-and-answer session, journalists mainly focused on environmental protection issues, including the development and adoption of the Environmental Code; the progress of implementation of specific state sectoral programs, such as the State Program for Glacier Protection and the State Greening Program until 2040; the process of tree planting, the selection and prioritization of plant species, their survival rate, and measures to prevent the drying of young saplings; preparations for the upcoming high-level international conference to be held in 2026 in the city of Dushanbe within the framework of the goals of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028”; the protection and current ecological condition of protected areas, including the Romit Biosphere Reserve; the state of atmospheric air in the republic; the impact of climate change on the rate of glacier melting; measures to prevent natural disasters; the implementation of investment projects and the attraction of financial resources in the field of climate change, as well as other environmental issues.
A representative of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Agriculture and Environmental Protection Department, Alisher Samiev, participated in the press conference.
The press conference was also attended by the Chairman of the Committee, the First Deputy Chairman, the Deputy Chairman, responsible officials of the Agency for Hydrometeorology, the State Institution “Specially Protected Natural Areas,” the Main Department for Environmental Protection of the city of Dushanbe, and other structural divisions of the Committee, who provided specific answers to journalists’ questions.
