On December 16 of the current year, employees of the central office of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan collectively viewed, via live broadcast on monitors, the Address of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, to the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the same time, similar events for viewing the Address were held in the Committee’s structural subdivisions and subordinate institutions across cities and districts of the republic.
In his Address, the Head of State analyzed and comprehensively reviewed the main directions of the country’s domestic and foreign policy, prospects for socio-economic development, as well as other key issues related to the development of the state and society, including environmental protection, rational use of natural resources, ensuring environmental security, and improving the living standards of the population.
It is worth noting that as a result of the constructive initiatives and consistent efforts of the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, on December 12 the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA), following its seventh session held at the UNEP headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, adopted a resolution entitled “Protection of Glaciers and the Cryosphere.”
The purpose of the Address of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan is to define priority areas for the country’s sustainable development, strengthen socio-economic foundations, ensure decent living conditions for present and future generations, and mobilize all state institutions toward the effective implementation of national strategic objectives.
The staff of the Committee for Environmental Protection accepted the key provisions of the Address as a practical guide to action and expressed their readiness to contribute to the implementation of strategic goals, particularly in the field of environmental protection and sustainable ecological development.
