On December 11, 2025, based on the instructions and directives of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, with the aim of implementing the State Afforestation Program of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2040, and with the participation of the leadership of the Committee for Environmental Protection and the executive authorities of Khatlon Region, a tree planting campaign was launched in the southern part of the country.
The initial ceremony of this initiative took place in the village of Dahana in the Gallaobod jamoat and in the town of Khurramshahr in the Khorosan district.
During the meeting with the local population, it was noted that under climate change conditions — including global warming, drought, and increased risk of natural disasters — tree planting is one of the effective ways to protect nature, reduce negative impacts, and ensure ecosystem resilience. This activity not only improves the environmental quality but also contributes to the beauty of the area and enhances the living conditions of residents.
As part of this campaign, more than 1,000 evergreen and shade-providing trees were planted.
