Work has begun to clean up the territory of the former pesticide storage facility in the village of Bobiobod, Zargari jamoat of Kushoniyon district. For many years, this site remained a potential source of threat to human health and the environment.
The cleanup is being carried out within the framework of the UNEP/GEF project GEF 9421 “Demonstration of Non-Thermal Treatment of DDT Waste in Central Asia.”
The Committee for Environmental Protection is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safe disposal of obsolete pesticide stocks and to reduce environmental risks for the population.
In addition, a broad information campaign on the safe handling of toxic substances is being conducted among local residents.
