On November 24 of this year, at the initiative and with the support of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, a special operation was launched and implemented at the “Bahri Norak” reservoir with the aim of ensuring the reproduction of fish resources.
As part of this initiative, more than 1 million juvenile fish, including common carp, silver carp and grass carp, were released into the ecosystem of the “Bahri Norak” reservoir. This measure is aimed at restoring and increasing fish stocks in the reservoir and, in addition to its ecological importance in conserving aquatic resources, makes a significant contribution to ensuring the country’s food security.
The protection of fish resources is one of the main directions of the state environmental policy. The Committee for Environmental Protection also plans to implement similar measures for the reproduction of fish resources in other reservoirs of the Khatlon region, including “Boigozi” and “Sarband”.
It should be noted that, considering the impact of climate change processes, the implementation of such initiatives will contribute to maintaining hydrobiological balance and the sustainability of biodiversity in natural water bodies.
