On November 7, 2025, in Belém, Brazil, the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Bahodur Sheralizoda, took part in a session dedicated to climate finance for the updated Nationally Determined Contributions 3.0 as part of the World Leaders Summit at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP-30).
The event was opened by United Nation Secretary-General Mr. António Guterres and President of Brazil Mr. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who emphasized the urgent need for countries to fulfill their commitments under the Paris Agreement and to move towards ambitious Nationally Determined Contributions 3.0 goals.
In his statement, Bahodur Sheralizoda noted that Tajikistan was the first country in the Central Asian region to submit its Nationally Determined Contributions 2.0 to the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change ahead of COP-26 in Glasgow in 2021, taking on the most ambitious commitments in the region to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“Tajikistan remains committed to fulfilling its climate obligations. We have already developed a roadmap for adopting Nationally Determined Contributions 3.0,” stated the Chairman of the Committee.
He also informed participants about the measures being implemented in Tajikistan, including the active transition to green development and the consistent implementation of the State Program for Greening the Country until 2040, under which 2 billion trees are planned to be planted.
Concluding his speech, Bahodur Sheralizoda called on the international community to strengthen its support for Tajikistan’s climate initiatives. He placed particular emphasis on the fact that the republic is ready to play a key role in regional decarbonization by exporting clean green energy to neighboring countries, thereby contributing to the overall reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
