The Main Department for Environmental Protection of Sughd Region, running enthusiasts, and environmental volunteers took part in an environmental cleanup event eco-plogging, which took place around the Botanical Garden of the city of Khujand. This initiative has in fact become an act of caring for nature.
Eco-plogging is an activity that originated in Sweden, combining jogging with picking up litter and has now gained wide popularity around the world. During the three-hour event, participants collected more than 800 kilograms of various types of waste. It is noteworthy that athletes and activists participated together with their children, helping to promote environmental awareness, patriotism and a sense of responsibility for nature.
The event was enlivened by an environmental quiz, as well as the distribution of gifts and sweets, which made it especially memorable. Once again, it was proven that caring for oneself and one’s health also means caring for the environment. Special recognition was given to family teams who collected the largest amount of litter they were awarded certificates by the Main Department for Environmental Protection of Sughd Region.
It is gratifying that for the sake of cleanliness and environmental well-being, proactive and environmentally conscious people leading specialists in their respective fields are coming together.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to the partners who contributed to the success of the event: the Main Department for Environmental Protection of Sughd Region, Helvetas Tajikistan, the International Water Secretariat of Tajikistan, the companies Tijorat and Siberian Wellness in Khujand, the café Happy Coffee, the Sirius Training Center and the State Institution “Mukhofizat” Center.
