With the aim of determining the level of young people’s knowledge on environmental issues, environmental protection, and ecological culture, a sociological survey was conducted by the education departments in a number of general education institutions across the cities and districts of the region.
According to the collected data, 98 students and 12 young teachers aged between 18 and 35 from the cities and districts of Istaravshan, Istiklol, Devashtich, Mastchoh, and Jabbor Rasulov took part in the survey.
At the same time, the public organization “Youth Group for Environmental Protection” conducted a similar survey on social networks. This method has been used for the second year in a row, and the survey involved young people mainly from the cities of Khujand, Guliston, and Konibodom, including both men and women.
During the current year, which marks the fifth year of implementation of the “State Comprehensive Program for the Development of Environmental Education and Awareness of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021–2025,” a total of 121 people were covered by the sociological survey as part of an interim evaluation, including 56 girls and 65 boys.
It should be noted that the level of environmental literacy and knowledge among the youth surveyed is currently estimated at between 60 and 70 percent.
