Over the course of 70 years, Tajik soil scientists, agricultural melioration specialists, and agricultural experts in general achieved significant successes. These achievements were the result of scientific research and studies in soil science, as well as the activities of other scientific institutions in the agricultural sector.
To address the complex problems facing the agricultural sector, experienced specialists and scientists were needed. Therefore, prominent scientists from Moscow and Leningrad came to Tajikistan and provided significant assistance in solving important scientific and practical issues. One of the well-known Russian scientists was Professor I. I. Antipin-Karataev. With his support, initiative, and leadership, the first soil and melioration research station was established in Kurgan-Tyube (now the city of Bokhtar). This marked the beginning of systematic studies of the soils and land resources of the republic.
As a result of scientific research, a number of valuable proposals were developed aimed at the reclamation of saline and waterlogged lands. Particularly after the establishment of the Research Institute of Soil Science in 1951, scientific research in the field of soil science continued to develop further.
Research in the fields of land reclamation, agrochemistry, microbiology, as well as soil physics and mechanics, particularly on irrigated lands in various regions of Tajikistan, expanded significantly. Over the course of 70 years, the number of scientists increased considerably, especially through the training and involvement of national (local) scientific personnel.
