On July 22, 2026, the head of the "Jamoati Dehoti Bokhtariyon" dehkan farm in Kushoniyon District sought scientific and practical consultation from specialists of the Vakhsh Valley Soil Science and Land Reclamation Station (VVSSLRS) to identify effective solutions to problems associated with the salinization of agricultural land.
During the meeting, issues related to the reclamation status of the land, the causes of soil salinization, and measures for its prevention and mitigation were thoroughly discussed. The head of the farm requested scientifically based recommendations for improving the condition of saline-affected land and increasing its productivity.
The specialists expressed their readiness to conduct agrochemical and land reclamation assessments of the fields, provide scientifically substantiated recommendations, and offer practical assistance in implementing the necessary measures to reduce soil salinity.
The farm manager's request demonstrates that soil salinization remains one of the most pressing challenges facing agricultural production.
To reduce the degree of soil salinity, it is recommended to cultivate rice on suitable plots of land. Rice cultivation under continuous flooding conditions promotes the leaching of excess salts from the soil and improves its reclamation status. At the same time, it is essential to maintain collector and drainage systems in good working condition, carry out timely land leaching, and implement irrigation practices in accordance with scientifically based recommendations provided by specialists. The implementation of these measures will create favorable conditions for reducing soil salinity and enhancing soil fertility.
