Alongside other natural resources, land provides people with food, occupies a special place in nature, and serves as the primary source for obtaining high agricultural crop yields.
Water Erosion
All substances, except living organisms, dissolve in water to a greater or lesser extent. Flowing water is a classic agent of soil erosion. If the soil surface is covered with leaves or dense vegetation, it loses only a minimal amount of soil particles. River water in such areas remains clear and clean.
Wind Erosion
Wind erosion (deflation) is a process in which strong winds lift and carry away the fertile topsoil layer (mainly fine particles, sand, and dust), transporting it into the atmosphere and reducing soil fertility. In Tajikistan, this type of erosion is less widespread than water erosion (which affects 82.3% of the land area); however, it is of considerable importance in arid, desert, valley, and high-mountain regions. Wind erosion leads to dust storms, reduced agricultural productivity, and desertification processes.
