At the initiative of the country’s top leadership, especially the Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, and within the framework of the agricultural development policy pursued by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, the 35th Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for Europe and Central Asia officially commenced today at the hall of the Tajik Agrarian University named after Shirinsho Shotemur.
The conference brought together international guests, with more than 550 participants from 54 member and observer countries, as well as representatives of approximately 20 international and regional organizations. Scientists, researchers, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan, and specialists from various agricultural sectors also participated in the event.
Participants of the forum, particularly FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, noted that the event was proposed at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, who recently paid a working visit to the People’s Republic of China. It was also emphasized that the conference had been organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan and is being successfully conducted according to the planned agenda.
During the event, special emphasis was placed on one of the key issues of the conference — attracting young people to various fields of agriculture. Through this initiative, organizers aim to familiarize youth with the most modern aspects of the agricultural sector in order to strengthen food security, as youth are considered one of the most important groups within the global community.
In conclusion, it was noted that ensuring and developing agri-food systems is the main objective of today’s event. In this regard, the importance of linking the development of agricultural science in the Republic of Tajikistan with the digitalization of modern global agricultural science was highlighted. In addition, the session of the 35th FAO Regional Conference for Europe and Central Asia is viewed as another important step toward expanding regional cooperation.
