NAVRUZ — THE MAIN FACTOR IN THE REVIVAL OF NATIONAL CULTURE
With the attainment of state independence, Tajikistan began to pay special attention to the revival of its ancient national and cultural values. In this context, Navruz, as a national holiday, is celebrated with particular grandeur. Every year, various cultural and sports events are held throughout the country, contributing to the strengthening of national identity and social unity. Special lessons dedicated to the history of Navruz and its significance are conducted in schools and universities, helping the younger generation become better acquainted with their cultural heritage.
It is a matter of pride for us, the Tajik people, that thanks to the comprehensive efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, on September 30, 2009, Navruz was inscribed by UNESCO on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Furthermore, at the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly, March 21 was declared the International Day of Navruz, and now this holiday is celebrated worldwide with great splendor every year.
This holiday plays an important role as a factor of unity among nations and peoples. In the era of globalization, when national values are sometimes under threat, such celebrations help preserve national identity and culture. In Tajikistan, Navruz can serve as a foundation for strengthening national unity and social integration.
