In accordance with the plan of educational activities at the Execution Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, another meeting of the literary circle “Comprehension of Meaning” was held. This time, the participants focused on an in-depth study and analysis of the masterpiece by the German writer James Krüss — the novella “Timm Thaler, or The Sold Laughter.”
At the beginning of the event, the content and ideological aspects of the work were presented. It was emphasized that this composition is not merely a novella, but a profound philosophical and ethical work addressing essential human values.
During the literary discussions, speakers noted that in this work “laughter” serves as a symbol of inner freedom, spiritual richness, and the authenticity of human nature. The analysis showed that selling one’s laughter in exchange for immense wealth and material gain essentially means the loss of self-identity and the transformation of the individual into a slave to his own ambitions.
The work demonstrates that no earthly wealth can replace true happiness and inner peace.
In conclusion, the literary circle determined that reading and analyzing such valuable works plays a key role in shaping a spiritual worldview, strengthening self-awareness, and understanding the true meaning of life among young people and staff members.
The event took place in an atmosphere of free and constructive exchange of opinions, during which participants expressed insightful views on various aspects of the work.
