Start of the Active Phase of Implementing the Supplier and Export Development Program in the Republic of Tajikistan
Since the beginning of January 2026, working consultations have commenced at the Export Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan with the key expert team of the Consortium “e.Gen Consultants Ltd – Inikos LLC”.
This consortium was selected through an international tender as part of the implementation of Component 3 of the “Financial and Private Sector Development” Project, financed by the International Development Association (World Bank Group). The primary task of the consortium is to assist the Export Agency in developing and effectively implementing the Supplier and Export Development Program.
During the consultation meetings, a detailed action plan for 2026–2028 as well as the Program’s key performance indicators were reviewed and agreed upon.
Within this plan, the priority sectors for Program implementation have been identified based on modern development models, including: agribusiness (processing and commercialization), textile industry (with a focus on producing high value-added garments and apparel) and rural tourism (digitalization of services and development of folk crafts).
At the same time, practical measures have been elaborated to strengthen the export capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as dehkan farms in promoting income-generating export-oriented activities and ensuring their integration into sustainable supply chains.
In particular, these measures cover defining the tasks and main directions for activating the Program’s regional implementation structures, content and objectives of training programs, the process of introducing international product quality standards, production management systems, and accreditation of domestic exporters in priority export markets. Special attention has been given to developing clear criteria for selecting Program beneficiaries and regulating the mechanism for providing technical assistance within the framework of grant funding.
The successful implementation of the planned activities under the Supplier and Export Development Program represents one of the key steps toward achieving the strategic goal — reducing Tajikistan’s economic dependence on raw material exports and increasing the share of processed products in global markets. This process facilitates the effective integration of the country’s real economy into global value chains, laying a solid foundation for the sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises, the creation of new jobs, and the improvement of the population’s well-being.
