The initiatives and proposals of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, hold a special place on the international stage and are a source of pride for the entire people of Tajikistan. This is because the cultural agricultural heritage of the Tajik ancestors has been introduced to the world, and the Almosi Valley, Hisari breed sheep, and varietal pink grape have been recognized as the National Heritage of the Republic of Tajikistan within the framework of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS).
It is noteworthy that this status was officially recognized during the flagship FAO program at the meeting of the GIAHS Scientific Advisory Group held on July 7-8, 2025. As a result of recent additions, the FAO global agricultural heritage network currently includes 99 systems across 29 countries worldwide.
Thanks to growing worldwide attention, the number of systems awarded the GIAHS status is expected to exceed 100 by the time of the certificate awarding ceremony, which will take place on October 31 during the celebration of FAO’s 80th anniversary.
It is also worth noting that on May 28 of this year, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) visited the city of Hisor in the Republic of Tajikistan.
