Dear Compatriots,
It is with great pleasure that the people of our country celebrate the 29th anniversary of National Unity Day amid a series of significant and historic events, including preparations for the grand celebration of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, the adoption of another global initiative—the United Nations General Assembly Resolution entitled "International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations"—and the continued development of international cooperation.
It is important to emphasize that National Unity was achieved through the wise and peace-oriented leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon. On 27 June 1997, following eight rounds of negotiations held between 1994 and 1997, the General Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and National Accord in Tajikistan was signed. This historic agreement saved the country from destruction and the nation from division, ushered in a new era of development and reconstruction, and became a firm foundation for statehood and national progress. Under the leadership of President Emomali Rahmon, National Unity has become one of the greatest achievements of the Tajik people, ensuring the country's territorial integrity, strengthening solidarity and mutual understanding, and laying the groundwork for the continued prosperity of the nation.
It is also a source of great pride that, on the eve of National Unity Day, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Resolution entitled "International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036)." The Resolution aims to establish a sustainable foundation for peace at the global level by encouraging the international community to strengthen cooperation, prevent conflicts, and promote a culture of peace. It also seeks to advance dialogue and reconciliation and foster interaction among generations—including children, young people, and older persons—while taking into account the needs and interests of future generations in policymaking and decision-making processes.
As previously noted, this year the people of our country celebrate National Unity Day while preparing for the great and sacred milestone of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Taking this opportunity, I sincerely congratulate all my dear compatriots on this national holiday. I wish each of you good health, happiness, and prosperity, and I wish our beloved Republic of Tajikistan everlasting peace, stability, and continued progress.
Happy National Unity Day, dear compatriots!
