These challenges clearly demonstrate that preserving peace and stability is not solely the responsibility of individual states or regions but a shared responsibility of the entire international community.
It is particularly important to emphasize that since gaining independence, the Republic of Tajikistan has put forward a number of major international initiatives, including those related to water resources, glacier preservation, and sustainable development, all of which have received broad support from the international community. In today's increasingly complex and unpredictable global environment, initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and mutual understanding have become especially significant. The adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the Resolution entitled "International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036)" is a clear recognition of the Republic of Tajikistan's peaceful, constructive, and proactive foreign policy.
Furthermore, the adoption of this important document reflects the high level of confidence that the international community places in the initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan and represents the outcome of the country's consistent implementation of a successful, peace-oriented, and constructive foreign policy. From a historical perspective, the Resolution was adopted at a time when the world needs peace, stability, solidarity, and constructive cooperation more than ever before. Consequently, its significance extends far beyond that of an ordinary international document, serving as an important foundation for strengthening dialogue among states, enhancing mutual trust, and fostering a new culture of international relations.
It should also be noted that following the restoration of its independence, the Republic of Tajikistan experienced one of the most difficult periods in its modern history—the imposed civil war. This painful historical experience profoundly demonstrated the importance of peace, national unity, and constructive dialogue for both the state and society, proving that negotiation, mutual understanding, and reconciliation are far more effective than confrontation and the use of force. This historic achievement was made possible through the wise, peace-oriented, forward-looking, and constructive leadership of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, together with the determination and collective efforts of the people of Tajikistan. It saved the country from fragmentation, preserved its statehood, and laid a solid foundation for a new era of national development and progress. Today, Tajikistan's peacebuilding experience is internationally recognized as one of the successful models of peacebuilding and national reconciliation.
Peace and stability have always occupied a central place in the state policy of the Republic of Tajikistan. Throughout his public service, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, has consistently advocated the values of peace, national unity, mutual understanding, and constructive international cooperation. In his speeches, he has repeatedly emphasized that peace must become a universal value of humanity and that it can only be strengthened through dialogue, mutual respect, and constructive cooperation.
It is precisely Tajikistan's successful peacebuilding experience that has enabled the country to play an active and proactive role in advancing the international agenda on peace, security, and sustainable development.
The fundamental concept of the Resolution is that peace should be understood not merely as the absence of war, but as a culture, a shared responsibility, respect for human dignity, the promotion of justice, and the provision of equal opportunities for all people. In essence, it seeks to create favorable conditions for a dignified life and the comprehensive development of every individual.
The primary objective of the Resolution is to establish a solid foundation for sustainable peace worldwide by strengthening international cooperation, preventing conflicts, promoting a culture of peace, and encouraging dialogue and reconciliation while taking into account the interests and needs of future generations in policymaking and decision-making processes.
It is a source of great pride that the Republic of Tajikistan regularly hosts high-level forums, conferences, and other international events aimed at implementing and promoting its global initiatives. These platforms provide opportunities to discuss pressing global challenges, strengthen international cooperation, and identify effective solutions to issues of common concern. As a result, Tajikistan continues to strengthen its reputation as an initiator of constructive international dialogue and as an important global platform for addressing key international issues.
As a continuation of these efforts, Dushanbe is scheduled to host a High-Level International Conference in 2027 to mark the launch of the International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036). This significant event will provide an excellent opportunity for the exchange of experience, the strengthening of international cooperation, and the coordination of joint efforts to promote global peace and security, while giving fresh momentum to the practical implementation of the Resolution's objectives.
In conclusion, the adoption of the Resolution entitled "International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036)" represents one of the most significant achievements of the modern diplomacy of the Republic of Tajikistan and serves as a logical continuation of the peaceful, constructive, and forward-looking policy pursued by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon.
