Celebration of the Day of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan at the Committee for the Development of Local Government Bodies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan
On October 25, a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the Day of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan was held in the meeting hall of the Committee, with the participation of the Chairman of the Committee Sharifjon Jumazoda, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee Qurbonzoda Beg Khola, and committee staff.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Committee, who noted that every year on November 16, the Day of the President is established in the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On State Holidays," which is a sacred date and is celebrated with great solemnity as a symbol of the country's independence and unity.
According to Article 64 of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan, the President is the guarantor of the Constitution and laws, the rights and freedoms of individuals and citizens, the defender of national sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, the stability of state power and its organs, as well as the observance of international obligations of Tajikistan.
It should be noted that on July 21, 1994, the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Presidential Elections of the Republic of Tajikistan" was adopted, which established the principles of conducting elections, appointing, organizing, and summarizing the results of elections, as well as other matters related to presidential elections.
The citizens of the country clearly remember that on November 6, 1994, in free and transparent elections, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan was elected with the support of the majority of voters, and on November 16, 1994, at a session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, he took the oath and began his duties.
All the changes that took place during the period of independence – the opening of large facilities such as the launch of two units of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Station, roads, and tunnels, the construction of vital infrastructure, the rise in national pride, and the development of education and healthcare – are evidence that the people of Tajikistan firmly believe in the President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, and in the bright future of Tajikistan.
It is a special source of pride that the Great Leader of the Nation became the first politician in the world to be awarded the Gold Medal of the International Peace Corps, the Albert Schweitzer Gold Star, and the Diamond "Star of the Patron."
I would like to emphasize once again that the Founder of Peace and National Unity – the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon plays an important role in building a sovereign, democratic, legal, secular, and social state, freeing the nation from division, the country from destruction, and the people from civil war. He made an enormous contribution to the political, economic, social, and cultural development of independent Tajikistan.
At the same time, I would like to express a few thoughts on the significance and historical importance of the XVI Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, which, above all, saved our newly gained independent state from destruction, brought to power a decisive, brave, and dedicated leader, restored the structure of state power, destroyed by the civil war, and began the ceasefire in the civil war. It laid the foundation for building a new society in Tajikistan, began constitutional reforms, created the legal basis for the adoption of the Constitution of Independent Tajikistan, formed the national army and border guards, signed the Agreement on the establishment of peace and national reconciliation, which was made possible by true unity in Tajikistan. This session also laid the foundation for reconstruction and restoration, created the basis for national revival, and began the improvement of the social condition of the people of the country, as well as presented the image of independent Tajikistan on the international stage.
Thus, the historical significance of the XVI Session of the Supreme Council of Tajikistan lies in the fact that the election of the President, the people's representative, the esteemed Emomali Rahmon, has enormous historical significance.
The XVI Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan became truly an assembly of the nation's dreams, peace and unity, and state-building. It was during this session that the future fate of the Tajik national state and independence was developed, determined, and clarified, and firm steps were taken towards achieving the common national goals of peace and security, unity, and territorial integrity.
Later, specialists from the Department of Planning and Evaluation of Development Programs for Local Government Bodies, Rustamov Bahrom, and the specialist from the Legal Department, Takhtrova Madina, made reports on the topic "Ceremonial Celebration of the Day of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan."
