Today, every resident of our beloved country is in the period of preparation for the celebration of the 28th anniversary of National Unity Day, which, as the most important historical date of the nation, is inscribed in golden letters on the pages of our statehood.
With deep respect and sincere warmth, I congratulate all dear residents of Tajikistan on the 28th anniversary of National Unity Day and, above all, wish you, honorable attendees, strong health, prosperity in your homes, and all the blessings of life.
National unity is the greatest and most sacred achievement of our people during the years of independence of our dear country, having played a huge role in the consolidation of the nation and strengthening of the state.
History testifies that it was precisely through the tireless efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, that the scattered people united, and our dear country was developed, creating real foundations for building a prosperous and peaceful society.
We must never forget that the imposed armed conflict, which occurred before the signing of the peace agreement, took the lives of thousands of citizens, made mothers weep, left children fatherless, and some homeless.
It was the wise policy of the worthy son of the nation, the great Leader of the Nation, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, that saved our country from division, guiding it towards a bright future and making unity and concord strong and lasting.
It is necessary to recall that after the collapse of Soviet power, the Republic of Tajikistan, as a newly established state, faced many failures, since disgraceful events such as division, regionalism, and armed seizures eventually led to civil war.
The most terrible threat in those days was the possibility of the breakup of the Tajik nation and the disappearance of the young Tajik state, which became a bitter reality in the modern history of the country.
Fortunately, in such a heavy situation, in November 1992, the 16th session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan was held in the ancient city of Khujand, where the people's deputies elected esteemed Emomali Rahmon as Chairman of the Supreme Council.
Ensuring peace and tranquility, political stability, and national unity, which originated from the 16th session of the Supreme Council of the country, became the foundation for ending armed confrontation and bloodshed, uniting the Tajik people, returning refugees to their homeland, building a democratic, legal, and secular state, and establishing a fair legal system, all achieved by the President of the country, esteemed Emomali Rahmon.
For this reason, the issue of national unity has become one of the highest values of our society, holding great importance for the noble people of Tajikistan, and for 28 years now, we, the residents of the blessed land of Tajikistan, live and work in an atmosphere of peace and national unity.
In this regard, our people, especially the youth and adolescents, must always remember that the national unity of the Tajiks was not easily attained.
Peace, tranquility, political stability, and the unity of the Tajik people were made possible through the tireless efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, and at the cost of the lives of thousands of faithful and patriotic young men.
Today, the noble people of Tajikistan clearly understand that the fulfillment of all the hopes and plans of every member of society, the progress and development of the state, and the prosperity of the Motherland depend precisely on peace, tranquility, full political stability, and national unity.
It should be noted that in the extremely sensitive conditions of the global community, the increasingly complex political and economic situation in the world, and the complicated processes and trends of globalization, the preservation of peace and stability in society and the strengthening of national unity are the primary duties of every honest and conscientious citizen of the nation.
Today, the preservation of the independence and freedom of the Motherland, the continuous development of national consciousness and national pride, patriotism and love for the Motherland, respect for the sacred symbols of the state, history, language, and culture, the promotion of the importance of peace, stability, national cohesion, and national unity, as well as respect and adherence to national values must become the sacred duty of every honorable citizen.
With full confidence, it can be said that the patriotic, peace-loving, and peace-promoting people of our beloved Tajikistan, especially the proud residents of Lakhsh district, will continue to cherish independence and freedom with gratitude, value peace and tranquility on the land of their ancestors, and strive to make a worthy contribution to the sustainability of this great national heritage — Independence and National Unity.
