It was emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan, taking this reality into account, implements state policy in the field of preventing extremism and terrorism through the development and implementation of national strategies. In this regard, two national strategies for 2016–2020 and 2021–2025 were previously adopted and implemented.
It was noted that the new Strategy for Countering Extremism and Terrorism in the Republic of Tajikistan for the period until 2040 and the Action Plan for its implementation for 2026–2030 were approved by Government Resolution No. 73 of February 27, 2026. The plan includes 14 directions, 39 items, and 119 sub-items.
During the explanation of the goals and objectives of the Strategy, it was stated that it is aimed at defining further measures based on national experience, adapting previously adopted measures to modern conditions, assessing new extremist and terrorist threats, and defining the tasks of entities involved in countering extremism and terrorism.
The adoption of the new Strategy is a logical continuation of previous documents, while maintaining the main preventive directions. In particular, priorities have been set for improving the early warning system for extremism, enhancing the role of local self-government bodies, educational institutions, youth, women and family affairs structures, eliminating factors contributing to extremism in religious environments, the digital space, correctional institutions, and labor migration, countering terrorism financing, as well as the rehabilitation and social reintegration of individuals with extremist and terrorist backgrounds, and the development of international cooperation.
In conclusion, it was noted that specific measures have been defined within the Strategy and Action Plan for the implementation of all outlined directions, some of which continue previously implemented initiatives, while others represent new approaches addressing modern challenges.
