On September 27, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, arrived in the city of Khorugh, Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, to inaugurate a number of facilities of various purposes, hold meetings and conversations with the population, and participate in festive celebrations dedicated to the 35th anniversary of State Independence.
It should be noted that this visit of the Head of State, respected Emomali Rahmon, to the city of Khorugh took place aboard a new L-410 NG aircraft operated by the domestic airline “Shokhin Airlines”, recently established in Tajikistan.
This was also the first flight along the new Dushanbe–Khorugh air route, marking the resumption of regular air communication between the cities of Dushanbe and Khorugh. From now on, regular passenger flights between Dushanbe and Khorugh will be operated by this aircraft, named “Badakhshon”.
It should be noted that the L-410 NG is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft manufactured by the Czech company “Aircraft Industries”. It is designed to carry 19 passengers and two crew members and is intended for relatively short flights of up to 2,100 kilometres.
The aircraft can operate from a runway slightly more than 600 metres long, making it particularly suitable for local airports in the mountainous regions of Tajikistan.
Taking into account these and other advantages of the aircraft, which are well suited to the conditions of Tajikistan, the newly established domestic airline “Shokhin Airlines” intends to organize domestic air services between various cities and districts of the country.
Until now, the fleet of “Shokhin Airlines” consisted of helicopters, and the arrival of the L-410 NG marks the company’s first step toward developing passenger transportation using fixed-wing aircraft.
