On June 16, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, during a telephone conversation, heard a report from the Chairman of Khatlon Region, Davlatali Said, on the progress of harvesting grain crops, fruits, and vegetables. He also gave specific instructions to accelerate the second sowing campaign and ensure the efficient use of irrigated arable land.
The Chairman of Khatlon Region also reported on efforts to strengthen the banks of the Pyanj River in connection with rising air temperatures and increasing water levels in the river. In this regard, the regional leadership was given specific instructions to expedite riverbank protection works and closely monitor the water level.
Telephone reports on the same issues were also received from the chairmen of the Hamadani, Farkhor, and Pyanj districts. They were instructed to ensure the timely harvesting of agricultural products and the effective implementation of riverbank reinforcement measures along the Pyanj River.
In addition, the leadership of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense and the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation were instructed to place under direct supervision the situation related to rising water levels in the Pyanj, Farkhor, and Hamadani districts of Khatlon Region and, together with local executive authorities, to take timely and appropriate measures.
