FLAG — A SYMBOL OF INDEPENDENCE AND NATIONAL STATEHOOD
“The state flag is one of the most important symbols of national independence and modern statehood, embodying the historical foundations and symbols of Tajik statehood, as well as expressing the goals, aspirations, and dreams of the entire people of Tajikistan.”
— Emomali Rahmon
On November 22, 2024, a solemn assembly dedicated to State Flag Day was held in the assembly hall of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan. The event was attended by scientists, veterans, and representatives of the Academy’s scientific institutions.
Also participating in the event was Mekhrobnazar Abduyev, an official from the Executive Committee of the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan (PDPT) in the Shohmansur district.
The event was opened by the President of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan, Amonullo Salimzoda, who warmly congratulated everyone present on State Flag Day. He emphasized that respect for national sanctities and state symbols, including the Flag, is an integral part of the civic responsibility of every member of society.
The state flag symbolizes the essence of an independent state, the unity and cohesion of the nation, and also inspires the loyal and devoted sons of the Fatherland to work and create in order to strengthen the achievements of independence and the foundations of national statehood.
The tradition of flag-bearing among the Tajik people dates back thousands of years. Our glorious ancestors, as custodians of ancient culture and civilization, went through a long path of flag tradition development. In this context, we can recall the glorious pages of flag history from the eras of Bactria, Sogdiana, Khatlon, and other ancient Tajik states, in particular, the Banner of Kova the Blacksmith, which became a symbol of national identity and pride of our ancestors.
Thus, honoring the State Flag is an expression of respect for the historical experience of Tajik statehood; protecting and preserving the flag requires the efforts of every member of society.
Love and respect for the State Flag should live in the heart of every worthy citizen, inspiring pride in the state and nation, strengthening national independence, and safeguarding its achievements.
In this regard, the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, noted:
“In the modern world, every state and nation is recognized by its state symbols and national sanctities, such as the Constitution, Emblem, Flag, Anthem, and national currency. These attributes are the international representation of a sovereign state.”
Representatives of the Executive Committee of the PDPT in the Shohmansur district, prominent scientists, veterans, and lawyers also spoke at the event, emphasizing the significance of respect for the flag, its legal and historical foundations, and calling on youth to honor the nation, statehood, national and state values, and to be patriots of their homeland.
At the conclusion of the event, the Academy President Salimzoda A.F. once again congratulated all employees on State Flag Day and, with love for the Motherland, noted: every person who considers themselves a citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan must be proud of their nation, the state of their ancestors, and state symbols, cherish them as the apple of their eye, and protect them.
May the State Flag — as a symbol of statehood, pride, and honor of the nation — forever fly in the peaceful sky over our beloved Tajikistan and inspire the creation and development of our homeland!
HAPPY STATE FLAG DAY, DEAR COMPATRIOTS!
