On June 17, 2026, an interdepartmental meeting was held at the building of the Food Safety Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to review and implement the electronic phytosanitary certification system (ePhyto). This event was dedicated to crucial matters regarding the implementation of a modern electronic system for exchanging phytosanitary certificates. Its significance for the development of the national economy, strengthening export capacity, digitalizing public services, and expanding the international cooperation of the Republic of Tajikistan was thoroughly discussed.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Food Safety Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Hon. Faizullozoda Muhammadsaid, welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude to the representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, development partners, international organizations, and distinguished guests for their active participation and contribution to advancing reforms in the food safety sector.
It was noted that nowadays, digitalization has become one of the key factors in increasing economic competitiveness and developing international trade. Under such conditions, adapting the country's phytosanitary system to modern international requirements and standards is not only a demand of the times but also an essential condition for the active participation of the Republic of Tajikistan in global supply chains and trade.
It was emphasized that the implementation of the ePhyto system will enable phytosanitary procedures to become simple, transparent, and efficient, reduce document processing times, lower administrative costs, eliminate risks associated with the use of paper documents and the possibility of their falsification, and improve information exchange between authorized national authorities at the international level.
At the same time, the implementation of this system will contribute to increasing the level of trust of foreign trade partners in domestic agricultural products, expanding product exports, facilitating access to new international markets, and strengthening the reputation of the Republic of Tajikistan as a reliable trading partner.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed issues related to the stages of implementing the ePhyto system, strengthening interdepartmental coordination, developing digital infrastructure, improving the legal framework, and training sector specialists, while exchanging views on the effective execution of this system.
