One of the most alarming issues of modern times is the emergence of new global threats such as extremism, radicalism, and terrorism. These phenomena worry the entire international community and act as obstacles to the sustainable development of society. Terrorism and extremism are considered serious global hazards that negatively impact the security, stability, and growth of nations. They threaten not just a single state but the entire world, requiring collective international cooperation.
Many young people fall victim to the nefarious goals of these extremist and terrorist organizations, ruining their lives. Numerous factors lead youth to join reactionary movements, one of the most prominent being a low level of legal awareness. Young people are often unaware of the tragic consequences of these movements and do not comprehend the legal ramifications of their actions.
Therefore, it is essential for the youth to be informed about the dangers of joining reactionary groups. It is necessary to increase the legal knowledge of citizens and foster their legal consciousness.
It is evident that religious extremist trends and international terrorism are more dangerous than any other global movements. They have spanned a wide range of countries and regions, evolving into horrific global tragedies.
A primary factor in the spread of extremism is the low level of legal and cultural literacy. Under such conditions, young people are more susceptible to the influence of radical groups. Furthermore, the use of social networks to propagate radical ideas plays a significant role. With the advancement of technology and widespread internet access, extremist groups can easily disseminate their views and recruit the youth.
The fight against political radicalism, religious extremism, and international terrorism is one of the most acute problems in modern society. The world faces real threats, and the struggle against this "plague of the century" has taken on a national and global character. Russian researcher A.V. Lyubachev notes: "The threat of terrorism to different countries varies. It depends on the internal socio-political situation of each state and its level of participation in international political processes." Regardless of a country's involvement, terrorism remains a great horror for the people of the earth.
The Republic of Tajikistan is no exception to these global threats. After gaining political independence in 1992, the country faced a civil war that created fertile ground for the emergence of terrorism and religious extremism. Fortunately, in 1997, the "General Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and National Accord in Tajikistan" was signed, ending the conflict.
To eliminate terrorist activities, a legal framework was established. The first Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On the Fight Against Terrorism" was approved by the President on November 16, 1999. Article 1 of the law includes:
Implementation of state policy in the field of counter-terrorism;
Fulfillment of international obligations of the Republic of Tajikistan;
Legal regulation of relations related to the fight against terrorism;
Formation of an attitude of intolerance toward terrorism among the population;
Identification, prevention, and termination of terrorist activities.
To prevent such occurrences, it is vital to raise the political and legal ideology of the youth. Users must be able to distinguish reliable sources from misinformation.
In conclusion, while terrorism and extremism are serious threats to society, they can be prevented through joint efforts and by raising the level of public awareness.
