September 27, 2026 — Khorugh
Dear compatriots!
Esteemed residents of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region and the city of Khorugh!
I sincerely congratulate all of you on the great and sacred national holiday and the celebration of historic justice—the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of our beloved Motherland, Tajikistan, which the worthy people of our country recently celebrated in an atmosphere of unity and solidarity, with gratitude for universal peace and stability.
With pride and deep satisfaction, I would like to emphasize that this celebration has become not only a symbol of unity and solidarity, a high level of national consciousness and self-awareness, and the unprecedented scale of development and beautification efforts, but also a worthy representation of Tajikistan and its cultural and civilizational heritage on the international stage.
State Independence has entered the modern history of our country as a unique historical phenomenon and a fateful political event, vividly reflecting our ancient culture and civilization, centuries-old constructive traditions of state-building, the revival of national values, self-awareness and a sense of national dignity, as well as the patriotism of the noble and proud Tajik people.
For 35 years, the Tajik people have cherished independence and freedom as the apple of their eye, making unprecedented historic efforts to protect and strengthen them as the most sacred values and greatest blessings of their lives.
I would like to emphasize with pride and satisfaction that the worthy and glorious people of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region have made a significant contribution to this historic process, namely, to strengthening the values of independence and the foundations of national statehood.
Furthermore, I would like to remind you that the celebration of the 35th anniversary of State Independence is not only a tribute to and commemoration of the history and fateful date of our people, but also the beginning of a new stage of development and construction, and of further strengthening national consciousness and national identity.
In this regard, it should be noted that in preparation for the 35th anniversary of State Independence, the construction and reconstruction of 1,362 facilities was planned in the cities and districts of the region.
To date, 1,545 facilities of various purposes have been constructed and commissioned by local residents, entrepreneurs, and other benefactors, significantly exceeding the approved plan.
In this connection, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the patriotic and hardworking population, as well as to the generous and charitable people of the region, including the residents of the city of Khorugh.
The Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region is widely known for its hospitable and cultured people, unique nature, vast tourism potential, and the national cultural values of the Tajik people.
Today, the cultural elements of the region’s population—songs and music, national clothing, folk crafts, customs and traditions, and national cuisine—represent the rich history and culture of the Tajik people, as they reflect the finest traditions of our noble ancestors.
The unique and breathtaking natural environment, towering mountain peaks, the Tajik National Park, the Dushanbe–Kulob–Khorugh–Kulma international highway, the Wakhan Valley, Sarez and Karakul Lakes, healing springs, and other tourist attractions of the region are wonderful destinations for travel, treatment, and recreation for domestic and foreign tourists.
By making effective use of these opportunities, we should transform the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region into a major center for the exchange of experience in tourism in the region and, while preserving the noble traditions of Tajik hospitality and respect for culture, present it even more widely to the international community.
Dear attendees!
The unstable and crisis-ridden situation in the modern world and its negative consequences, including transnational threats and challenges, warn each of us never to lose political vigilance and prudence in protecting the borders and territory of our Motherland, national interests and our state, as well as our traditional national values.
In this regard, we always rely on young people as a creative and active part of society and highly value their role in building national statehood.
Young people should remember that they are worthy successors of previous generations and the builders of the present and future of the Motherland. The peaceful and prosperous future of the state and nation directly depends on their knowledge and education, worldview, sense of responsibility, as well as their constructive and firm civic position.
I am confident that the hardworking people of the region, including its patriotic youth, will continue, with a strong sense of responsibility, constructive initiatives, and pride in national statehood, to work for the development of their homeland and the strengthening of the prosperity and power of our beloved Tajikistan.
Expressing confidence in the bright future of our beloved Motherland, I once again congratulate all the glorious people of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region and you, dear attendees, on the 35th anniversary of State Independence and wish every family in the region good health and happiness, well-being and peaceful life, success and prosperity.
May the sun of independence and freedom always illuminate the family hearth of every resident of the region and herald a bright and prosperous future for the nation and state.
Happy holiday of pride in the Motherland and the revival of the national statehood of the Tajik people, dear compatriots!
May you always be healthy and successful!
