On September 27, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, reviewed the project for the construction of an agro-logistics center in the city of Khorugh.
The agro-logistics center will be built on a two-hectare site in the industrial zone of Khorugh and will be designed for receiving, storing, processing, and preparing agricultural products. The center will have the capacity to receive and process up to 600 tons of agricultural products simultaneously.
According to the project, three modern technological lines will be installed at the center, where agricultural products will undergo sorting, cleaning, quality inspection, labeling, and packaging before being prepared in accordance with domestic market requirements and international standards. As a result, 64 permanent and seasonal jobs will be created.
The agro-logistics center will process and package fruits and vegetables grown in the mountainous conditions of Badakhshan.
One of the main objectives of establishing such a center is to prevent losses of agricultural products and create favorable conditions for their long-term storage. Thanks to modern storage and processing capabilities, agricultural products will reach the market in high-quality condition, creating opportunities to increase farmers’ incomes and enhance the competitiveness of domestic products.
During the presentation of the project, the Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, instructed responsible officials of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as scientists and industry specialists, to ensure high-quality construction and installation of technological equipment and to make extensive use of advanced technological experience in the construction of the facility.
The responsible officials were also instructed to create the necessary conditions for the storage, processing, and preparation of agricultural products, with particular attention to their quality and compliance with the requirements of international markets.
Overall, the construction of the agro-logistics center in Khorugh is being carried out within the framework of the “Agricultural Resilience Enhancement” project. The project envisages the establishment of five agro-logistics centers in the cities of Dushanbe, Khorugh, and Khujand, as well as in the Danghara and Jaloliddini Balkhi districts.
The implementation of such initiatives will contribute to the development of agricultural infrastructure, support for agricultural producers, increased processing and storage of agricultural products, and the creation of new opportunities for exports.
