The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, sent a congratulatory telegram to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, which, in particular, states:
“Your Excellency,
On the occasion of the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the resolution proclaiming the International Decade for the Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036), I wish to extend to you my most sincere congratulations.
This important achievement reflects the consistent efforts and valuable contribution of the Republic of Tajikistan to advancing the global agenda for peace and stability through the strengthening of multilateralism, dialogue and international cooperation.
At a time when the international community is facing unprecedented threats and challenges, this important initiative, as a logical continuation of the commitments undertaken within the framework of the Summit of the Future and the Pact for the Future (2024), sends a powerful and promising signal about the need to invest in peacebuilding, conflict prevention and strengthening international solidarity for the benefit of present and future generations.
Welcoming the efforts of the Government and people of Tajikistan towards the peaceful resolution of issues with neighbouring states, I once again underscore the readiness of the United Nations to contribute to strengthening a culture of peace and respect for international law, with a view to expanding cooperation among States.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
