"The Armed Forces have made an invaluable contribution to protecting the achievements of independence, stabilizing the situation in the country, supporting peace and tranquility, suppressing rebellious uprisings, decisively repelling external attacks, eliminating armed criminal groups, preventing military coups, and combating drug trafficking."
— Emomali Rahmon
THE MAIN GOAL OF THE ARMED FORCES OF TAJIKISTAN IS TO ENSURE THE SECURITY OF THE PEOPLE AND THE HOMELAND.
On February 21, 2025, with wide participation from staff of the Central Office and leaders and employees of scientific institutions of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan, a solemn meeting was held dedicated to the Day of the Foundation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Veterans of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as instructors from the Department of Military Affairs at the Shirinsho Shahmurov Tajik Agrarian University — Colonel Shamshiddin Kodirov and Major Hikmatullo Abdullozoda — participated in the meeting.
First, the President of the Academy, Salimzoda Amonullo Faizullo, congratulated those present on this memorable day and noted that on February 23, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan celebrate their 32nd anniversary — one of the most important pillars of state-building.
The Armed Forces of Tajikistan are a product of the independence period and one of its most significant achievements. From the very beginning of their formation, they were entrusted with a sacred and honorable mission — protecting the sovereignty of the state, ensuring peace and stability, and safeguarding the security of the state and society.
In the early years of formation, the situation in this sphere was extremely difficult. Conditions in military units left much to be desired. Fortunately, today the National Army of the Republic of Tajikistan has overcome all difficulties and is moving toward new heights. Over 32 years of activity, various military structures have achieved many significant successes that cannot be fully captured in a few words.
The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan pays special attention to the development of the Armed Forces, considering it the foundation of state-building.
Umarsho Kholzoda, a lawyer at the Academy of Agricultural Sciences and a former officer of the Soviet Armed Forces, noted that no state can exist without a strong and combat-ready army. That is why statesmen have created various units to protect citizens and guard borders.
Historical sources confirm that the Achaemenid states, and later Sogdia and Bactria, Khwarezm, and Parthia, had brave and courageous armies.
The National Army is an integral part of the defense of every nation and state, and its main goal is to ensure the security of the people and the homeland. Accordingly, ensuring peace, stability, and the security of citizens is the task of the nation’s shield. The army is a symbol of discipline, courage, dignity, and patriotism.
The army is seen as a school of courage, where soldiers and officers undergo daily training and education. They consciously and wisely fulfill their responsible duties, protecting the borders and territory of the country.
In his speech, Hikmatullo Abdullozoda reminded that our republic created the Armed Forces at a time when the country was in a state of civil war and there was a threat of the disappearance of Tajikistan and the collapse of the Tajik nation.
Any state can declare its military status on the international stage only by having a powerful and combat-ready army. The army is an important part of the state structure and the main guarantor of state stability.
For young independent Tajikistan, creating a National Army was a difficult task that required material and technical resources. Organizing the army in a short time was challenging, but despite this, the respected President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, founded the National Army, and on February 23 the first military parade was held in the Republic of Tajikistan.
Today, brave and courageous officers are required to patriotically and devotedly defend their homeland, military oath, and political vigilance, protecting the borders and territory of their country with dignity.
Young employees of the Academy, Bibioisha Ruzimatova and Zevarsho Kholova, read poems dedicated to the homeland and the National Army, which received a warm response from those present.
At the conclusion of the solemn event, commemorative gifts were presented to internationalist veterans who currently work at the Academy.
