On August 25, 2024, the “Festival of Watermelon, Melon, and Pumpkin” was held with great grandeur in the Abulqosim Firdavsi Park of Culture and Recreation in the Sino district of Dushanbe city.
Every year, the festival of watermelon, melon, and pumpkin is organized within the framework of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the Schedule for Holding Holidays, Anniversaries, Festivals, Exhibitions, Cultural and Educational Competitions, Traditions, and Folk Crafts in the Republic of Tajikistan.”
This year, the event was arranged on the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan, together with relevant ministries and agencies, executive authorities of Sughd and Khatlon regions, the city of Dushanbe, and subordinate districts, celebrated with great solemnity.
In particular, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan and its subordinate institutions actively participated in the festival, symbolically showcasing delicious dishes prepared from pumpkin products.
The exhibition was visited by the Deputy Prime Minister of the country, Suleimon Ziyozoda, Minister of Agriculture Kurbon Hakimzoda, President of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan Amonullo Salimzoda, representatives of the Executive Authority of the city of Dushanbe, and other leaders of relevant ministries and agencies.
At the same time, agricultural scientists presented their achievements and conducted scientific research in the field of breeding, varieties, and various seeds of watermelon, melon, and pumpkin, providing useful recommendations and guidance to the festival participants.
