As previously reported, on June 4-5, the Muminabad district of the Khatlon region will host an international tourism forum and exhibition titled "Khatlon – Land of Civilizations and Travels."
The primary goal of this event is to showcase the region's tourism potential, attract investment, and strengthen international cooperation. Representatives from more than 20 countries are expected to participate.
Given its wealth of natural, historical, cultural, and ecological resources, tourism is poised to become a priority sector for the Khatlon regional economy. Analysis indicates a steady annual increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting the country to explore Khatlon's landmarks.
All cities and districts within the region possess unique appeal. In recent years, several sites have garnered significant international attention:
Takhti Sangin (Ancient archaeological site)
Chiluchorchashma (The "Forty-Four Springs")
Childukhtaron (The Valley of "Forty Girls")
Mausoleum of Imam Zainalobiddin
Mausoleum of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani (Eastern scholar and thinker)
Mausoleum of Hazrat Sultan Uvaysi Qarani
Childukhtaron is one of the most stunning natural landscapes in southern Tajikistan, located in the Muminabad district, 250 km south of Dushanbe. The site features pyramidal rock formations reaching up to 60 meters in height, carved by wind erosion over millennia.
According to local legends, the forty stone statues on the mountain symbolize the chastity and patriotism of Tajik women. For every visitor, these crimson rocks embody beauty and purity.
The forum will provide guests the opportunity to experience the "natural masterpieces" of Muminabad. Tourists can enjoy authentic national cuisine, including:
Oshi burida, Shakarob, and Kurutob.
Traditional Tajik flatbreads and organic fruits.
The region's biodiversity—including 138 species of medicinal plants, 45 types of honey plants, and 98 types of edible plants—contributes to the exquisite flavors of the local food. During spring festivals, local women demonstrate traditional crafts and prepare seasonal dishes for visitors.
Muminabad is characterized by potential in industrial, health, and recreational tourism. Recent modernizations of international roads and tunnels, along with the development of campsites and sanatoriums, have significantly increased its appeal.
