On January 29, 2026, at approximately 19:30, within the area of responsibility of the “Bahorak” border outpost of military unit 0341 of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan, located in the Shamsiddin Shohin district, five Afghan smugglers illegally crossed the state border and entered the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan from Afghanistan.
As a result of оперативно-search measures, the movement route of the criminals in the area was identified. The smugglers refused to comply with the border guards’ orders, used weapons and ammunition to resist, and attempted to flee toward Afghanistan.
During the exchange of fire, three Afghan smugglers were neutralized:
Two smugglers managed to escape toward Afghanistan under the cover of darkness.

The Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan state that they are taking all necessary measures to ensure the security of the state border and are conducting an uncompromising fight against border violators and smugglers.
At present, the situation along the state border is under control, and the incident is under investigation.
