The Republic of Tajikistan declared its State Independence on September 9, 1991, opening a new chapter in the life of our people. Tajikistan gained independence — the ultimate dream of every freedom-loving nation, without which no economic or social achievement can ever be complete.
The 35 years of independence have provided us with a real opportunity to choose the path for the present and future of our nation, steering the further progress of our beloved country toward a democratic, legal, and secular society. Independence has become for us the supreme symbol of the Motherland and patriotism, the greatest blessing of independent state-building, tireless creative labor, and selfless efforts to achieve political, economic, and cultural sovereignty. It has strengthened the norms of civil society while ensuring a free life for every individual and the highest degree of true happiness for the nation.
Independence serves as a vivid testament to the durability of the state, the preservation of the nation’s identity, a symbol of authentic roots and historical ideals, an international passport, and a pledge of honor and prestige for our sovereign country as it integrates into the civilized world. Today, all residents of our free and flourishing country are proud that thirty-five years ago, they laid the first bricks in the foundation of true independence and national statehood, and thanks to this sovereignty, we acquired our state symbols — the Flag, the Emblem, and the National Anthem.
Over the 35 years of independence, under the wise leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, and thanks to the global initiatives of this powerful figure, Tajikistan has secured a worthy place in the international arena. Today, no collective decision in the region can be imagined without the active presence of Tajikistan. People around the world now recognize the Tajik people and the country of Tajikistan, which holds a special status on the global stage.
State independence has created the conditions for our Motherland to flourish. For in a state where peace, harmony, and mutual understanding prevail, construction and creative labor resound day by day, driving political, economic, and cultural advancement. State independence is considered by the Tajik people to be the greatest blessing, cherished dream, pillar of the state, and salvation of the nation.
Independence and national unity have infused our people and country with immense strength, creating a favorable and free environment for the development of political, economic, and social life. Today, we can boldly state that Tajikistan has achieved remarkable successes in a very short period.
From the vantage point of the twenty-first century, we must never forget that freedom and independence are the most sacred and highest possessions of the nation, and that the glorious pages of our people's love for freedom and patriotism were written with the blood of thousands of brave and devoted patriots.
With pride and deep reverence for independence — the essence of our modern life — I wish that the skies of our Motherland remain clear, our lives prosperous, and that happiness, victories, and unique labor achievements accompany us all.
May independence be blessed, oh friend, May your fortune grow ever brighter, oh friend. You have reached your aspirations, my nation, Blessed be this auspicious moment, oh friend!
