Independence is the greatest historical achievement of the Tajik nation, attained in 1991, which shaped the new destiny of our state and people. From that pivotal day to the present, our country has traversed a glorious path of development and progress, and today it stands proud on the international stage as a sovereign and free state. Thanks to independence, we have attained remarkable political, economic, social, and cultural achievements.
State independence is not merely a political milestone for the Tajik people, but also a spiritual pillar and a symbol of national identity. Throughout the 35 years of sovereignty, under the leadership of the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, Tajikistan has transformed from a war-torn country into a peace-loving, constructive, and progressive state. Today, Tajiks march proudly toward a bright future under the national flag, guided by their wise leader.
State independence has integrated Tajikistan as an equal member of the global community. Currently, the nation maintains diplomatic relations with more than 125 countries and holds membership in over 40 international organizations. The "Open Doors" policy has significantly enhanced Tajikistan’s reputation and prestige in the international arena. Tajikistan's global initiatives in the water sector, adopted by the UN General Assembly, demonstrate our country's valuable contribution to solving humanitarian challenges. Notably, 2003 was declared the "International Year of Fresh Water," 2005–2015 as the International Decade for Action "Water for Life," and 2018–2028 as the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development." All these milestones confirm that Tajikistan makes its voice heard not only regionally but also globally. Today, the Tajik nation is profoundly grateful to live peacefully and harmoniously in an atmosphere of self-awareness and unity within its sovereign state, a blessing enjoyed for 35 years.
Independence is the honor and dignity of every free-thinking, wise, and self-respecting nation. It is the symbol of a nation's prosperity and the cornerstone of a sovereign national state, marking its endurance and survival. In the modern era, only a nation possessing genuine independence and its own free, sovereign state can command honor and respect. Under the guidance of the Leader of the Nation, state independence steers our noble people toward conquering new heights and achieving great milestones, illuminating the path of our ancient nation toward a radiant future. Undoubtedly, the peace and prosperity of any state depend on the commitment of each of its citizens. Today, we enjoy the privilege to work and thrive in an environment of freedom, peace, stability, and national unity across all economic and social spheres of society.
To further beautify and prosper our beloved homeland and to implement the directives of the Head of State and the Government of the Republic of Science Tajikistan aimed at celebrating the 35th anniversary of State Independence at the highest level, the Directorate of the Food Safety Committee in the Sughd Region and its local branches in various cities and districts have been continuously engaged in extensive improvement and construction campaigns.
To this end, on May 16, 2026, a collective community cleanup and beautification drive (hashar) was organized by the Directorate of the Committee in the Sughd Region and its sub-structures. Employees actively participated to welcome the 35th anniversary of State Independence with dignity. The activities included landscaping, installing slogans, banners, and national flags, planting decorative flowers and shrubs, clearing garbage from the premises, ditches, and waterways, cleaning offices, and disposing of waste.
Concurrently, construction work at the Food Safety Center in the Shahriston district, alongside renovation and restoration efforts at the Food Safety Center building in the Spitamen district, is progressing steadily. Furthermore, the modern facility of the Food Safety Center in the city of Konibodom is fully completed and ready for commissioning.
Promotional and awareness campaigns highlighting the essence of peace, stability, unity, and the achievements of the Independence era—specifically the attainment of the third national strategic goal, "Food Security"—have been launched through television channels and other media outlets. Accordingly, on May 12, 2026, the Directorate of the Committee and its local structures across the Sughd Region organized and broadcasted dedicated television programs on the regional channel (TV "Sughd").
In addition, ongoing public relations and educational campaigns focus on celebrating the achievements of State Independence, fostering national pride, strengthening self-awareness, and enhancing patriotism across all segments of Tajik society. Special emphasis is placed on elevating the political, legal, and cultural literacy of the youth, nurturing them in the spirit of patriotism, respect for national, universal, and cultural values, and promoting cleanliness within residential areas, streets, avenues, and public spaces. Educational articles are regularly prepared and published on social media platforms and specialized internet portals, including Facebook.
In conclusion, it must be emphasized that achieving State Independence is the greatest and most sacred historical milestone, representing the most valuable asset for every citizen of Tajikistan. We remain committed to protecting our State Independence through honest, responsible labor and devotion to the Motherland, contributing significantly to the consolidation of a rule-of-law state and the prosperity of our beloved country.
