The Food Safety Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan operates in accordance with the requirements of the effective laws of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Veterinary Medicine", "On Food Safety", and "On Consumer Rights Protection", as well as other regulatory legal acts adopted for the health of society. To ensure public health and population access to safe food products, the Committee conducts daily monitoring and public awareness campaigns at public catering establishments, retail outlets, and consumer markets.
In addition, ahead of the Idi Qurbon (Eid al-Adha) holiday, the Food Safety Committee respectfully requests all citizens of the republic to cooperate with the specialists of the Committee's sub-structures in regions, cities, and districts, as well as with veterinary specialists within town and village jamoats (municipalities), in order to prevent the population from contracting any infectious (zoonotic) diseases. Citizens are urged to ensure that livestock intended for slaughter (sacrifice) undergoes a pre-slaughter inspection and that the slaughtering is carried out only in designated locations.
