On September 15, 2026, within the framework of the Summit of Heads of State “Central Asia – Republic of Korea,” the Agency of Forestry under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Korean company The Treeple Co. signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of forestry and the development of forest carbon projects in the Republic of Tajikistan.
The document is aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in the areas of protection, restoration, and development of forest resources, as well as the use of modern technologies for their sustainable management.
According to the Memorandum, the parties will cooperate in forest and degraded land restoration, agroforestry development, and forest resource assessment using drones and satellite technologies.
One of the key areas of cooperation is the development of nature-based carbon projects. The implementation of such initiatives can enhance the capacity of forests to absorb carbon dioxide, improve ecosystem conditions, preserve biodiversity, and ensure the efficient use of degraded lands.
The signing of the document is an important step in attracting the experience and modern technologies of the Republic of Korea to Tajikistan’s forestry sector and will contribute to the development of joint initiatives for sustainable forest and climate development.
