Ceremonial Meeting at the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan Dedicated to the Day of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan
On November 14, 2025, a ceremonial meeting was held at the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan to mark the Day of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. The event was attended by Shosaidzoda Shahboz Shosaid, a member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli, and Asomuddin Shamolov, a representative of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The meeting was opened by the President of the Academy, Academician Salimzoda Amonullo Faizullo, who spoke about the achievements and contributions of the nation’s eminent son, President Emomali Rahmon. He emphasized that throughout history, there are personalities who, through great wisdom, clear vision, and boundless love for their people, can lead a nation from darkness to light. For the Tajik people, such a figure is the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon.
Academician Salimzoda highlighted that society, once on the brink of disintegration, returned to stability under the wise leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity. During the years of independence, under the leadership of the President, the country has taken firm steps toward building an independent democratic society. During this period, Tajikistan acquired its national flag, emblem, and anthem. The main pillars of statehood, including the national army and border forces, were established and strengthened.
Tajikistan’s status on the international stage has risen, with political, economic, and cultural relations established with many advanced countries. The constitutional system and state governance were regulated, the national currency was introduced, and the national passport was officially recognized.
In his Address to the Majlisi Oli, President Emomali Rahmon stated that the main objective is the consistent strengthening of sustainable economic development in Tajikistan, improving the welfare of the people, ensuring energy independence, food security, overcoming transport bottlenecks, and developing key sectors of the economy, particularly through the growth of the private sector. He emphasized: “The development of agricultural production is the most important factor in the country’s food security.”
Ensuring the population is supplied with domestic agricultural products, maintaining food security, and reducing poverty remain key priorities, relying on the development of agriculture and industrial enterprises. Today, government policy in agriculture is aimed at maximizing the use of land and sunlight, increasing crop yields, and scientifically implementing practices to produce multiple harvests per year from the same plots. The application of scientific achievements in crop cultivation—including cereals, legumes, vegetables, potatoes, horticultural crops, and oilseeds—is a priority.
Shosaidzoda Shahboz, during his speech, highlighted the exceptional historical personality of President Emomali Rahmon, emphasizing his extraordinary human qualities—generosity, courage, compassion, and unparalleled unifying leadership. He recalled that on November 16, 1992, in the historic city of Khujand, the 16th Session of the Supreme Council of Tajikistan took place under extremely difficult conditions, where Emomali Rahmon was elected Chairman of the Supreme Council. One of his first priorities was amending the Constitution of the country. With the adoption of the first Constitution in 1994 through a nationwide referendum, the presidential form of government was established, and Emomali Rahmon was elected President of Tajikistan. On November 16, 1994, he took the oath as the first President of the independent Republic of Tajikistan.
Through his wise and courageous leadership, President Rahmon rescued the country from the brink of disaster, repatriated over a million refugees, and united the scattered population. The reconstruction of war-damaged areas and construction of major infrastructure began, including the building of modern highways connecting the country and its ports to neighboring countries. The key achievements of the country are a result of President Rahmon’s heroic initiatives and the dedicated efforts of the people of Tajikistan. Under his leadership, Tajikistan overcame the national tragedy at the end of the 20th century, strengthened state independence, and has since been progressing steadily toward a prosperous future.
Academician Komiljonzoda Davlatjon Qayumi also spoke, noting that November marks three major national celebrations, including the Day of the President. He highlighted that President Rahmon has always prioritized the development of science and education and consistently supported it. Komiljonzoda discussed in detail the progress in agricultural sciences and the achievements of the Academy’s researchers.
Academician Pirizoda Jalil Safar noted the economic growth of the country, emphasizing that agricultural production increased from 39 billion somoni in 2019 to 73 billion somoni in 2024, nearly doubling in five years. Consequently, wages in the agricultural sector increased by 30 percent. Over the years, the Government of Tajikistan has implemented multiple programs and strategies to ensure uninterrupted development of agriculture.
At the conclusion of the event, Academician Salimzoda Amonullo congratulated the guests and participants on this significant occasion and wished them continued success and prosperity.
