On Homeland, Independence, Peace, Mother, and National Unity
For us, the people of Tajikistan, the concepts of Homeland, Independence, Peace, Mother, and National Unity hold a special and honorable place. These sacred words, pronounced in our sweet and expressive language, embody friendship, love, unity, mutual understanding, peace, and stability of the people and the state. They are the source of happiness, dignity, progress, development, and prosperity for our beloved country.
Thanks to state independence and national unity, we, the proud Tajik people, have gained the opportunity to recognize our origins, explore the ancient history of our nation, revive the rich heritage of our ancestors, and develop self-awareness and national consciousness.
It is noteworthy that the greatest gift the Almighty granted the Tajik people at the end of the 20th century is our Leader, President H.E. Emomali Rahmon. From the very first days of his election as Head of State, he demonstrated wisdom, care, and far-sighted leadership, earning the trust of the people.
Independent Tajikistan, under the leadership of President Rahmon, gained a national leader who restored peace and national unity. Over 28 years, the country has gradually advanced: major industrial, energy, transport, social, and other infrastructure projects were initiated. Independent Tajikistan has become the beloved homeland of all its people. These words were expressed by President Rahmon in one of his messages to the Supreme Assembly of the country.
In the 1990s, the beginning of peacebuilding, love for the homeland, protection of ancestral lands, and development and reconstruction work were guided by the President’s appeals. Today, the Tajik peace experience is recognized by prestigious international organizations as unique and unprecedented. Tajiks worldwide consider President Rahmon their leader. This recognition reflects the nation’s appreciation for his loyal and selfless service to the people and for strengthening peace and unity.
Thanks to the President’s tireless efforts, the scattered nation reunited, and the people of Tajikistan actively engaged in constructive work and development. More than one million citizens living abroad returned to their homeland, responding to the President’s calls, and began contributing to society as part of one united nation.
Looking at the achievements of independent Tajikistan, it is clear that during the country’s independence, through the wise policy of President Rahmon, major industrial and production facilities, small and medium hydropower plants, thousands of educational, cultural, and sports institutions were built and launched.
Today, we take pride that our independent national state, thanks to the President’s policy, is recognized globally as a sovereign state. Due to independence, Tajikistan has established official diplomatic relations with 176 countries, set up embassies and permanent missions in 30 countries, and is an active member of more than 20 prestigious international organizations, participating actively in global issues.
President Rahmon’s speeches from international platforms have introduced Tajikistan to the world and raised its international prestige.
Notably, through the President’s initiatives, 2003 was declared the “International Year of Freshwater,” 2005–2015 as the “International Decade for Action on Water for Life,” 2018–2028 as the “International Decade for Water for Sustainable Development,” and 2025 as the “International Year of Glacier Protection.” Most global and regional water-related events are organized under these initiatives, making every citizen of Tajikistan proud. This effort by the Head of State has been recognized as the fifth global initiative of its kind.
All these achievements and progress in our beloved homeland are the result of the peaceful, constructive, and far-sighted policy of President Rahmon.
Therefore, it is our duty to unite around the wise policy of our Leader, work to make our beloved homeland even more prosperous and beautiful, and contribute actively to the development and flourishing of Tajikistan.
