With a deep sense of pride and civic responsibility, I sincerely congratulate all the people of our country on the adoption of the United Nations Resolution entitled “International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations” and wish our beautiful homeland lasting peace and unity.
The adoption of the United Nations Resolution entitled “International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations,” which originates from the direct experience and initiative of the Republic of Tajikistan under the wise leadership of the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, once again demonstrates to the world that Tajikistan’s experience of achieving peace is an example worthy of emulation by the international community.
The adoption of this resolution is a recognition of peace as the highest value and a fundamental pillar of sustainable human development. At a time when the international community is facing various threats — armed conflicts, political crises, climate change, economic challenges and other global risks — bringing together the efforts of states to strengthen peace and stability has become one of humanity’s most important tasks.
In these circumstances, the adoption of this resolution by the United Nations sends a clear message that the international community recognizes peace as an invaluable value, a foundation for sustainable development and a guarantee of a dignified life for present and future generations.
For the people of Tajikistan, peace is not merely a political concept. Peace is a lived experience, a historical lesson and the foundation of our independent state. The Tajik people have experienced the value of peace and stability with their entire being and understand well that only in an atmosphere of security and mutual understanding can a country be developed, its economy advanced, science and education strengthened, and a dignified life ensured for its people.
During the years of independence, the Republic of Tajikistan has followed a proud path of building modern statehood and, thanks to peace and national unity, has achieved significant accomplishments. Today, our country holds a worthy position on the world stage as a peaceful state, an initiator of constructive ideas and a supporter of constructive international cooperation.
The foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan is based on respect for the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, equality of states, respect for sovereignty, the peaceful settlement of disputes, and the strengthening of friendship and cooperation with all countries of the world. It is precisely this peaceful policy that has contributed to Tajikistan being recognized as a country that advances initiatives on important global issues.
Today, alongside its social and economic development, Tajikistan attaches primary importance to strengthening peace and security, combating modern threats, protecting natural resources and promoting sustainable development. We believe that only through constructive cooperation and mutual respect for each other’s interests can lasting peace and comprehensive development be achieved.
The Resolution “International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations” calls upon all states to engage in more active cooperation, strengthen mutual trust, develop peace diplomacy, prevent conflicts and resolve disputes peacefully.
This important international document emphasizes the importance of promoting a culture of peace at all levels — from the family to the international community — and further strengthens the shared responsibility of states and international organizations for safeguarding global peace and security.
Once again, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire proud people of the Republic of Tajikistan on the adoption of Tajikistan’s global initiative entitled “International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations for 2027–2036,” which demonstrates the high standing of our country in the international arena and the international community’s support for the global initiatives of our beloved Tajikistan.
