Dear compatriots,
In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Public Holidays,” November 16 is established as the President’s Day of the Republic of Tajikistan. The historical foundation of this holiday is the Sixteenth Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, held on November 16, 1994, after which Emomali Rahmon, having taken the oath of office, began performing the duties of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, as stipulated by the Constitution of sovereign Tajikistan.
This session entered the modern history of Tajikistan as the day of adoption of the first Constitution of the independent state and as a manifestation of the unity of the nation and the state. Following the adoption of the Constitution and the election of the President in 1994, a new stage began in the contemporary history of our country, creating favorable conditions for improving living standards and enhancing the welfare of the people of Tajikistan, as well as for continuing political, economic, social, and cultural reforms.
It should be noted that the Founder of Peace and National Unity – the Leader of the Nation, President of the country, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, has made an immense contribution to the development and establishment of modern Tajik statehood, the strengthening of independence, the revival of historical memory, the advancement of science and education, the protection of national interests, and the sustainability of the nation.
The significance of celebrating the President’s Day of the Republic of Tajikistan lies in the fact that each of us should duly appreciate the productive and exemplary activities of the Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, because it is precisely thanks to his successful and constructive policy, constant efforts toward the development and tranquility of the Motherland, firm resolve, respect for the rich history of the ancient Tajik people, and his creative and far-sighted initiatives that the international community views Tajikistan with trust and goodwill.
From the very first days of assuming power, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, devoted all his will and energy to addressing the most vital issues of the life of the people and the state—ensuring peace and stability, uniting the people of Tajikistan, and strengthening national unity. It is due to the achievements of the President of Tajikistan that the Tajik peace process was later recognized by the United Nations as a unique example of achieving peace and stability. Tajikistan has become a member of more than 80 regional and international organizations and global financial institutions, and together with other countries participates in addressing political, security, economic, social, and cultural challenges worldwide. It has acceded to more than 350 international instruments, including conventions, charters, and declarations, and fulfills its obligations toward achieving global goals such as social development, economic improvement, environmental protection, and others. The people of Tajikistan, in the person of their leader, have found an individual whose principal goals are peace and stability, the territorial integrity of Tajikistan, and the well-being and tranquility of the people.
Today, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan—Emomali Rahmon—is recognized as the Founder of Peace and National Unity – the Leader of the Nation, who has rendered outstanding and unparalleled services to the people of Tajikistan. With full confidence, it can be stated that the celebration of the President’s Day of the Republic of Tajikistan is an expression of sincerity, love, and gratitude of our people toward their beloved and guiding Leader, a symbol of the unity of the people around the esteemed Leader of the Nation.
Sincerely congratulating every Tajik and resident of Tajikistan on this significant historic date, I wish that comprehensive peace and national unity under the auspices of the policy of our beloved President—His Excellency Emomali Rahmon—will always remain strong and unshakable.
