With the aim of preventing and reducing drug addiction, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and implementing the “National Strategy for Drug Control in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021–2030,” the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan has launched a series of cultural, recreational, and sports events under the motto “Caravan Against Drugs – 2025.”
As in previous years, this initiative is dedicated to the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is observed annually on June 26. The campaign is being carried out by the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The events are taking place from June 12 to June 26, 2025, in the cities of Bokhtar, Khujand, and Dushanbe.
In this context, the official opening ceremony was held at the Central Stadium of the capital, Dushanbe. The event was attended by the leadership of the Executive Body of State Authority of Dushanbe, representatives of law enforcement agencies, staff from various organizations and institutions, athletes, and active youth of the capital.
The event began with opening speeches delivered by representatives of the Drug Control Agency and the Committee for Youth and Sports, who emphasized the purpose and importance of the campaign.
It is worth noting that on May 7, 2024, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring May 25 as World Football Day. This initiative was proposed by the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Supreme Assembly (Majlisi Oli) of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Mayor of Dushanbe, the President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, and the President of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA), Mr. Rustam Emomali.
As part of the campaign, a mini-football tournament was organized among students of general education institutions in Dushanbe. A total of 16 teams from schools and sports clubs across the city participated in the tournament.
The activities of the “Caravan Against Drugs – 2025”, held under the slogan “Youth Against Drugs”, continue to take place in accordance with the jointly approved action plan.
