Based on the instructions of the leadership of the Agency on Statistics and with the aim of developing the statistical system and the activities of statistical bodies at the regional level, a working group led by the Deputy Director of the Agency on Statistics, Zarina Nazarzoda, is currently on a working visit to Sangvor District.
The purpose of the visit is to ensure the reliability and accuracy of statistical data, particularly the inventory of bee colonies as of May 1, 2025, and the volume of honey production for the year 2024.
It is reported that within the framework of the visit, the working group will familiarize itself with the activities of local beekeepers to ensure data transparency, including clarifying the number of bee colonies and the volume of honey produced. The group will also hold discussions with beekeepers on the proper submission of statistical reports on production volumes and farm operations.
According to experts, honey from Sangvor District is considered among the best in the country. This is due to the fact that the climate, natural environment, and ecological conditions of the area are particularly favorable for beekeeping compared to other regions.
Beekeepers in Sangvor District note that the local bees collect nectar from high-altitude plants. Moreover, the quality of honey greatly depends on the breed of the bees. If the bees are of a strong and high-quality breed, honey can be harvested twice a year.
To increase honey production — one of the best natural healing products — create new jobs, raise household incomes, and enhance the country’s export potential, the Government of Tajikistan has taken significant steps to support the development of beekeeping during the years of independence.
During this period, the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Beekeeping" was adopted, and based on it, several relevant Government resolutions have been enacted, regulating the sector and contributing to the timely resolution of existing challenges.
