On October 2, 2025, a consultative meeting was held at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade between the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Nasriddinzoda Rukhshona Hikmatullo, and a delegation from the German Development Bank (KfW), led by KfW Senior Portfolio Manager Matthias Grüninger.
At the beginning of the meeting, Nasriddinzoda R. H. on behalf of the Ministry, warmly welcomed the bank's delegation and expressed gratitude for the fruitful cooperation and KfW's significant contribution to the implementation of sustainable socioeconomic development projects in Tajikistan.
Nasriddinzoda R. H. noted that thanks to the wise and far-sighted policies of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Honorable Emomali Rahmon, the country has created broad opportunities for establishing productive cooperation with international development partners as part of its "open door" policy. It was noted that Tajikistan's cooperation with KfW plays a significant role in key areas such as environmental protection, rational use of natural resources, development of engineering infrastructure, and social development. In the context of climate change and growing environmental risks, the support of international partners is particularly important for the sustainable development of the national economy.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that KfW has proven itself a reliable partner in the implementation of important national projects, including the project "Strengthening Rural Development through Climate-Adapted Land Use and Disaster Risk Reduction," which covers important areas of ecology, infrastructure, and regional development.
The Deputy Minister praised the positive results achieved in the implementation of this project, including the signing of two contracts for consulting services in forest and pasture management assessments, topographic and hydrological analysis, the selection of four water basins from 11 project regions, and the commencement of practical work in the Varzigon (Rasht District), Amondara (Penjakent City), and other water basins.
The parties also discussed existing challenges that arose during project implementation. It was emphasized that the purpose of discussing these issues was to find joint ways to improve coordination and expedite the implementation of project activities.
Specifically, issues such as delays in approving individual project components, the lengthy approval process for the transfer of equipment to state forestry agencies, and the need to strengthen technical and organizational cooperation within the project team were raised.
At the end of the meeting, Nasriddinzoda R.Kh. stated that the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade is ready to provide all necessary support to address existing challenges and strengthen cooperation with KfW, and the bank's representatives confirmed their commitment to implementing the project within the established deadline.
