Today, August 14 pursuant to the instruction of the Head of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, a meeting was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan between the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Academician Khushvakhtzoda Qobiljon Khushvakht, and Benjamin Fuentes Castro, an expert of the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI).
During the meeting, issues related to strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), as well as the implementation of the INTOSAI Development Initiative programme for 2026–2029, were discussed.
During the discussion, the parties exchanged views on the main areas of programme implementation, the development of professional and institutional capacity, improving the effectiveness of the public audit system, and strengthening mechanisms of transparency and accountability in public financial management.
It was emphasized that, in the context of developing international relations and strengthening public administration reform processes, adapting national practices to international standards and best international practices is of great importance. In this regard, cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the INTOSAI Development Initiative can create favorable conditions for further improvement of the public audit system, strengthening the capacity of relevant institutions, and enhancing the effectiveness of public resource management.
The meeting also addressed issues related to coordinating activities within the framework of the 2026–2029 programme, identifying priority areas of cooperation, and utilizing existing opportunities to develop the capacity of specialists in the field of public auditing.
The parties emphasized their readiness to continue constructive cooperation and ensure the effective implementation of the INTOSAI Development Initiative programme for 2026–2029, expressing hope that further cooperation will contribute to strengthening the public audit system, enhancing transparency in public financial management, and implementing international standards in the Republic of Tajikistan.
