On the eve of the celebration of the great national holiday — the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan — an important and historic event took place in the healthcare sector of Khujand City. For the first time, complex liver and kidney transplant surgeries were successfully performed at City Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Khujand, with the participation of highly qualified specialists.
The performance of such complex surgical procedures in Sughd Region demonstrates the steady development of the healthcare sector, the growing professional expertise of medical specialists, and the modern diagnostic and treatment capabilities made possible through the efforts of the state and the Government.
The surgeries were performed under the supervision of Professor Saidmahmud Ismoilzoda, Director of the State Institution “National Scientific Center for Human Organ and Tissue Transplantation.”
During the procedures, leading specialists from the National Scientific Center for Human Organ and Tissue Transplantation worked closely with experienced surgeons from City Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Khujand. The complex liver and kidney transplant operations were carried out to a high professional standard.
This significant achievement is the result of the consistent implementation of state healthcare development programmes, the strengthening of the material and technical infrastructure of medical institutions, and the provision of modern equipment to hospitals across the region. Today, the technical capabilities of medical institutions in Khujand enable them to provide a range of medical services in line with contemporary standards.
It should be noted that, until now, patients suffering from serious illnesses and requiring organ transplantation have generally had to travel to the national capital or seek treatment at medical institutions abroad. This has inevitably involved substantial financial costs and various logistical challenges.
With these new capabilities now available in Sughd Region, patients in need will be able to access some complex medical services within their own region. This initiative will not only help reduce patients’ travel time and expenses but also further improve public access to highly specialised medical care.
According to healthcare specialists, both surgical procedures were completed without complications, and the patients’ current health conditions are considered stable. The patients remain under continuous medical supervision and are undergoing postoperative care and rehabilitation.
The first liver and kidney transplant surgeries in Khujand mark the beginning of a new stage in the development of transplant medicine. This important milestone demonstrates that, by making effective use of existing resources and continuously improving specialists’ skills, the range of complex, high-tech medical services available in the region can be further expanded.
This achievement provides a solid foundation for the continued development of healthcare in Sughd Region and offers renewed hope to patients in need of specialised treatment. At the same time, it reflects the constructive policy of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan aimed at developing the healthcare sector, strengthening the material and technical infrastructure of medical institutions, and creating appropriate conditions to protect public health.
The successful completion of these complex surgical procedures in Sughd Region on the eve of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan represents a significant achievement and a testament to the scientific and practical advancement of medicine in the region.
