At the initiative of the Executive Body of State Authority of Khatlon Region and with the support of the regional Department of Culture, the regional festival entitled “National Costume – a Symbol of Civilization and National Culture” was held with great grandeur in the center of Temurmalik district.
The beautiful and memorable event was attended by the leadership of the district’s executive authority, representatives of state institutions and organizations, teachers and students, artisans, seamstresses and young designers, as well as numerous residents of the district.
The main purpose of the festival is to honor national values, revive traditional crafts, promote the culture of national dress, and strengthen the aesthetic appreciation of the youth. As the Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, has emphasized, the national costume “is an essential part of national self-awareness and identity and should be preserved as a symbol of national pride.”
As part of the program, participants showcased various types of national clothing — from bridal and festive attire to workwear and children’s outfits. The high craftsmanship of the seamstresses and designers, along with the use of traditional colors, patterns, and ornaments, added special beauty to the event.
Additionally, an exhibition of traditional crafts such as embroidery, adras weaving, Chakan embroidery, and atlas weaving attracted considerable attention from guests. Craftspeople from different districts of the region presented their handmade works in special sections, reflecting the revival of ancient Tajik traditions.
At the conclusion of the festival, winners and active participants in various categories — “Best Bridal Dress,” “National Clothing for Children,” “Everyday Folk Costume,” and “Best Young Designer” — were awarded certificates of honor and commemorative gifts.
According to sector specialists, such events not only strengthen national culture but also serve as an important means of promoting traditional crafts and supporting local seamstresses and artisans.
The festival concluded in a festive atmosphere with cultural and concert performances by local artists.
