Today, a ceremonial gathering dedicated to International Translation Day was held at the State Institution “National Translation Center” under the Committee on Language and Terminology under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The event was held with a sense of pride and deep appreciation for the dedicated work of people of letters, particularly professional translators.
At the beginning of the event, the Director of the Center, Doctor of Philological Sciences and Professor Dustzoda Hamrokhon Juma, delivered a speech highlighting the role of translation in the modern world, as well as its importance and distinctive features. It was emphasized that translation is not merely the replacement of words and meanings from one language into another, but rather a bridge between cultures, civilizations, and human thought. A translator should enrich their vocabulary through translation and work with bilingual and explanatory dictionaries. This requires reading more books, gaining experience, and continuously improving professional skills. It was further noted that it is through the dedication and efforts of translators that the treasures of world literature become accessible to Tajik readers, while outstanding works by Tajik writers and scholars are introduced to the international community.
The Head of the Translation Department, Fatkhiddin Nazarov, then delivered a speech and provided detailed information on existing challenges and the need to improve the professional skills of translators. It was noted that translations are not only of academic and cultural importance, but also play a significant role in presenting the history, culture, and national identity of Tajikistan to the world.
The Head of the Linguistic Expertise Department, Firuz Roziqov, also addressed the gathering and highly valued the role of translators in strengthening friendly relations between states. According to him, translation is like two shores of the same sea; in order to connect these shores, one must have a good, and even advanced, command of two or more languages.
In conclusion, the head sincerely congratulated the staff on their professional holiday and wished each of them fruitful work for the development and prosperity of our beloved country.
