On December 10, 2024, the twenty-first extraordinary session of the Majlis of People's Deputies of the Sughd region of the sixth convocation was held under the chairmanship of Chairman of the Sughd region, Chairman of the Majlis of People's Deputies of the region Rajabboy Ahmadzod.

The session considered the issues of the election of deputies of the Majlis of People's Deputies of the Sughd region of the seventh convocation, the formation of the regional election commission for the election of deputies of the Majlis of People's Deputies of the Sughd region of the seventh convocation, the number of territorial electoral districts for the election of deputies of the Majlis of People's Deputies of the Sughd region of the seventh convocation and relevant decisions were made by deputies.
Chairman of the Sughd region Rajabboy Ahmadzoda initially noted that in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated December 4, 2024 No. 882 dated March 2, 2025, elections of a new convocation of deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and majlises of People's deputies of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, regions, the city of Dushanbe, cities and districts will be held. With this in mind, the executive bodies of state power of regions, cities and districts need to take concrete measures to implement the norms established by the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Elections of Deputies to local Majlises of People's Deputies”.
Then, by a resolution of the Majlis of People's Deputies of Sughd region, the regional election commission for the election of deputies of the Majlis of People's Deputies of Sughd region of the seventh convocation, consisting of 13 people, was established and the creation of 70 territorial electoral districts for holding elections to the Majlis of People's Deputies of Sughd region was approved.
